The Opportunity Are you seeking a role with a company dedicated to unravelling the intricacies of disease pathology at the single-cell level and developing pioneering new therapies for human disease? We are in search of a self-motivated and skilled Senior Research Assistant to join us at our Cambridge, UK site. You will be an integral member of our Target Biology team, using cutting-edge spatial genomics technologies to identify and validate therapeutic targets for autoimmune and fibrotic diseases. The successful candidate will support our human tissue bank sample collection, performing spatial genomics analyses, and advancing our spatial genomics technology platform. What this role will Involve Receive human donor samples from multiple tissue sources with sample tracking in accordance with the Human Tissue Act. This means occasionally you need to be flexible and work outside the normal working hours. Performing sample preparation (FFPE, fresh frozen and suspension cells), conducting Xenium and Visium single cell & spatial genomics analyses, and performing tissue and cell staining experiments. You will collaborate with computational scientists, disease biology scientists, and biotherapeutic discovery scientists. Understand team objectives and help in coordination of day-to-day laboratory activities. Help to draft, review and optimise SOPs and associated Risk Assessments. What we expect from you BS / MS in the fields of immunology and/or molecular and cell biology or equivalent, with demonstrable hands-on laboratory experience in academic or industry settings. Hands-on experience in tissue handling and histological sample preparation (fresh frozen, FFPE, microtomy, cryo-sectioning, etc.). Hands-on experience in tissue and cell biology techniques (H&E staining, immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry). Experience working with human tissue and understanding of Human Tissue Act requirements Collaborative and entrepreneurial spirited and enjoys working in a fast-paced, resourceful and creative environment.
