Turbine Engineer (Rotating Equipment)
Reporting to Functional Manager - Engineering
Based in: Teesside (Middlesbrough).

Position overview:
Working as part of the Engineering Team, and reporting to the Functional Manager, the Turbine Engineer shall support both daily engineering breakdown issues and also provide leadership and ownership for all turbine outage events.
The Turbine Engineer shall work closely with the OEM to prepare a scope of work and specification for each annual outage and ensure all material spares and consumables are readily available.
The Turbine Engineer will have overall responsibility for compliance and technical issues associated with Sembcorp’s Steam and Gas Turbines and drive continuous improvement.
The Turbine Engineer shall work closely with the Operations, Inspection, SHE, Performance and Maintenance functions to ensure a clear 5 & 10 year asset plans are developed and maintained, ensuring legal compliance at all times.

2. Champion compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and statutory requirements.
3. Become an expert with regards to Sembcorp’s Gas and Steam Turbines (Wilton based).
4. Become familiar with Sembcorp’s Large Scale Feedwater Pumps and Compressors (Wilton based).
5. Working across all assets of the business to support and sustain operation, through Planned Maintenance Optimisation and Asset Tactics.
6. Ensure the strategic objectives of the business are met by initiating, leading and delivering projects and solutions.
7. Actively seek new and emerging technologies and methodologies to achieve the “Best Available Technology”.
8. Take ownership to ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and quality assurance/control.
9. Provide technical advice, guidance and support to the Projects, Maintenance and Operations functions for all mechanical rotating equipment and design code requirements.
10. Responsible for ensuring an up to date and complete Technical Library, asset criticality study, critical spares holding, 10-year plan, planned maintenance schedule and inspection program is in place and audited for compliance.
11. Represent the company as a technical expert in discussions with external organisations.
12. Work with the Maintenance and Planning Manager to ensure all work is prioritised and scheduled to maximise efficiencies.
13. Ensure up to date and detailed asset performance figures are available and reported.
14. Provide out of hours support to the project, maintenance and operations departments as required.
15. Work with the Outage Team to ensure all mechanical specifications and work scopes are completed in line with the gated process timescales.
Essential:
1. Degree Qualified (BEng Mechanical Engineering).
2. Excellent knowledge of Gas/Steam Turbines (specifically GE (Mark 5&6) and Siemens).
3. Sound knowledge of Rotating Equipment i.e. Pumps, Compressors.
4. Excellent knowledge of Industry British Standards and Relevant Design Codes.
5. Excellent management skills.
6. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
7. Experience of engineering and equipment maintenance in the plant area or similar operation.
8. IT skills (use of Outlook, Maximo, spreadsheets, word processing, Microsoft Project etc.).
9. Up to date with best practice maintenance and engineering techniques.
10. Excellent awareness and implementation of SHE requirements.
11. Good influencing skills.
12. Good commercial awareness and understanding of cost control and contractor management.
13. Good report writing, communication and meeting skills.
14. High concern for standards.
15. High level of personal resilience.
Desirable:
1. Turnaround Experience.
2. An understanding of large scale Industrial Boiler Systems would be advantageous.
