Job Description
The successful candidates must possess demonstrable design experience up to 132kv from within the power, utilities and / or critical national electrical infrastructure sectors. This position allows for some hybrid working, with up to 1-2 days working from home, the rest in the Northeast office.Our ClientOur client is responsible for the construction, maintenance, upkeep, renewal, refurbishment and repair of electricity transmission and distribution networks, assets and systems. This includes sub-stations, overhead lines, underground cables, and all associated equipment such as switchgear and transformers.OverviewOur client now wishes to appoint a number of highly motivated and industry experienced EHV Design Engineers.
The main purpose of these roles will be to take responsibility for managing the development and production of highly competitive and innovative designs for multiple contracts, frameworks or singular projects, ensuring maximum opportunity and minimum risk, and that stakeholders receive a high-quality service, on schedule and to challenging budget requirements. The successful candidate will also contribute to HV / EHV preconstruction activities, ensuring successful project support at the front-end stages and timely handover to operations.The RolePreparation of designs from LV to 132kVProviding designs for a variety of works and turnkey projects, covering all disciplinesLiaising with manufacturers and suppliers to develop partnerships for design solutionsFollowing up designs and offering feedback, advice or guidance as requiredAttend site surveys, route walks and or meetings as necessaryEstablishing key aspects associated with project, providing designs, liaising with internal departments and submitting final project capabilitiesEvaluate supplier and subcontract returns to ensure compliance with specifications and documentationAccurately undertake any necessary take-offs of drawings and schedulesFollow all company procedures for enquiries and design handlingDraft commentary regarding exclusions and clarifications associated with designsWorking with relevant business systems to maintain data integrityAssist in the creation and management of processes for projects teamsManaging key stakeholder requests in a professional and timely mannerThe PersonPreferably possessing an HNC in a relevant discipline, the successful candidates must possess demonstrable experience and technical expertise from within the HV / EHV power sectorPossess strong commercial and business awareness to enable you to identify and recommend appropriate design proposals that meet customer needsHighly motivated and accurate, as attention to detail is vitalProficient in the use of industry related designs software across multiple platformsExcellent communication skills, including the ability to adapt your style to both technical and non-technical audiencesUtilise information and industry knowledge to produce innovative design solutionsStrong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to use your own initiative as well as working collaboratively in a teamAbility to produce high quality designs and associated reports with minimal supervisionPossess design and build experience, as well as refurbishment and maintenance expertise, and with the ability to evaluate design scope gapsA highly attractive remuneration package is on offer for the successful candidate, coupled with career progression, along with challenging variety, security and longevity of work.TPBN1_UKTJ
