On behalf of a respected Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Redbridge, we are looking for an experienced and patient Behaviour Support Assistant to work with secondary students who face behavioural challenges associated with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background in behaviour management and is passionate about supporting students in building positive skills and attitudes.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support to students in Key Stages 3 and 4 with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and associated behavioural difficulties.
2. Implement and sustain effective behaviour management strategies, helping students regulate emotions and behaviours in a supportive environment.
3. Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations calmly and effectively.
4. Collaborate with teachers and other LSAs to tailor interventions for individual needs and encourage positive behavioural change.
5. Actively engage students in activities that promote social skills, resilience, and self-confidence.
6. Contribute to a structured and consistent learning environment, promoting positive student progress.
Candidate Requirements:
1. Proven experience working in behaviour support, ideally within a PRU, SEND, or SEMH setting.
2. Training in behaviour management strategies, such as Team Teach or MAPA (highly advantageous).
3. Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications in education or behaviour support.
4. A calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to working with challenging behaviours.
5. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to supporting students and staff.
