Job summary
The Orchard Medical Centre are looking to recruit a part time, enthusiastic and experienced Health Care Practitioner to join our friendly nursing team within a dynamic and progressive primary care environment. The role involves a range of services including phlebotomy, ECG's, wound care, suture and clip removal, NHS health checks, injections.
This role is open to experienced Health Care Assistants only.
This role is for 18 hours and may include working Saturdays
Main duties of the job
The role involves managing own caseload of patients. This willinclude wound care, removal of sutures and clips, phlebotomy, ECG's, bloodpressure, annual health checks.
With correctexperience and/or training this can also include hypertension monitoring andear irrigation

Job Summary
To be responsible for the delivery of phlebotomy and otherassociated tasks, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team,delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patientpopulation. The post holder will work under indirect supervision of theclinical team and undertake tasks and duties delegated. They will workcollaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of thepatients, following policies and procedures.

Professional Conduct
At The Orchard medical Centre staff are required to dressappropriately for their role. Administrative staff will be provided with auniform whilst clinical staff must dress in accordance with their role.
Primary Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the HCP. Theremay be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will bedependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
It is anticipated HCPs will develop skills in respectingpatient/clients rights, preferences, choices, culture, identity, communication,Health and Safety and promoting health.
To be aware of maintaining patient/client confidentiality at alltimes.
Will not undertake any task or element of care until he/she hasbeen assessed as competent by an appropriately trained registered nurse.
To act as a chaperone as required to GPs/Nursing Team.
To maintain standards of organisation in the treatment, practiceand GP rooms.
To assist in general nursing duties on completion of a trainingprogramme and the successful assessment of a set standard competency level andunder the supervision of Practice Nursing Team, hypertension, earsyringing, spirometry, dressings, all eligible vaccinations, delegatedactivities from specialist clinics foot assessments for diabetes, urinetesting, weight/height, blood pressure measurements, ECG recording, phlebotomy.
To prepare/assist the GPs in minor surgery/IUD fitting.
To be responsible for the correct maintenance, cleaning anddisposal of surgical equipment.
To be responsible for the re-stocking of all clinical areas andmaintaining a stock rotation system.
To ensure that drug/vaccine refrigerator/s are running at thecorrect temperature on a daily basis and maintain the Vaccine Cold Chain.
Be aware and maintain standards of Infection control.
Instruct patients in appropriate techniques or tasks.
To behave in a professional manner at all times, being aware ofhow attitudes and personal behavior can impact on patient/client care and theteam as a whole.
To work within a multi-professional team and with patient/clientvaluing and respecting diversity, rights and beliefs when different from onesown. To interact in a professional manner and effectively within the team.
Report immediately to a member of clinical staff or SeniorManager any acts of omission or error to safeguard the interests of thepatient/client.

To wear the agreed uniform in a clean and presentable conditionwith safe and suitable footwear. The uniform will comply with Health andSafety, Infection Control guidelines. Jewellery will be kept to a minimum.
Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with extantlegislation
Ensure read codes and templates are used effectively
Support the team in dealing with clinical emergencies
Liaise with external services / agencies to ensure the patientis supported appropriately (vulnerable patients etc.)
Secondary Responsibilities
