A primary school in Wythenshawe, Manchester M22 is looking to recruit a full-time (32.5 hours a week) Attendance Officer starting in January on a permanent basis.
Job Role:
The Attendance Officer will work alongside key school staff, pupils, and parents to:
1. Lead, monitor, and report on pupil attendance
2. Work with families, forming strong relationships to promote high levels of attendance
3. Promote a positive attendance and punctuality culture to reduce levels of absence
Duties and Responsibilities:
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Work closely with parents/carers, pupils, and staff to improve levels of attendance
2. Maintain, review, and develop records of attendance on SIMS and use this data to identify and manage pupils/families with poor attendance/punctuality
3. Collate information regarding the attendance of pupils who may be experiencing attendance difficulties in order to inform the school, governors, parents/carers, and external agencies, including preparation of paperwork for court cases
4. Complete all registers daily
5. Monitor late attendance
6. Work with pupils and parents/carers to improve levels of attendance
7. Undertake home visits as designated by the school
8. Interpret information relating to attendance patterns and identify key areas of concern
9. Assist with the identification of pupils who will receive support in improving their attendance record
10. Monitor the attendance of vulnerable groups of pupils and liaise with SLT
11. Produce termly reports for Governors and senior staff in school
12. Liaise with external agencies to exchange information and determine appropriate levels of intervention
13. Liaise with the safeguarding team regarding child protection issues
14. Keep up to date with SIMS training
