The Home for Little Wanderer's Southeast Campus in Plymouth, MA seeks a Registered Nurse for the COVE School. The COVE School is a year-round private special education school for youth aged 10 to 18. Services include individual, family, and group therapy, psycho-pharmacological evaluation, psycho-diagnostic evaluation, educational evaluation, sexual abuse victim/abuser evaluation and treatment.
Responsibilities
* Develop an individualized health services plan using a collaborative, wellness-focused approach.
* Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the plan.
* Provide ongoing Quality Assurance by monitoring a MAP site’s medication administration system to ensure compliance, licensing requirements, and MAP policies through conducting reviews of medication administration practices at regular intervals.
* Oversee all aspects of the administration of medications, including the direct administration, training and supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff designated to administer medications, and the preparation of leave of absence medications.
* Assure compliance with all regulatory guidelines; may be asked to serve as a MAP Certified Trainer.
* Monitor laboratory reports and initiate appropriate action.
* Oversee the coordination of medical, diagnostic, and laboratory appointments.
* Conduct annual health screening procedures and assure that all immunizations are current.
* Coordinate the delivery of health care with ancillary staff, family members, guardians, psychiatrists, primary and specialty health care providers, and other professionals within the Home and with external organizations. Complete reports and documentation needed for client records, the Home, and collateral and regulatory agencies.
* Provide and coordinate health education for clients and families and training for staff; assure that all medication and medical supplies are ordered, received, and checked for accuracy, monitor supply budget.
Qualifications
* Current MA RN license.
* Some pediatric and/or psychiatric experience.
* Ability to assess and monitor children for illness and injury.
Helpful if candidate is already a certified school nurse in MA or willingness to complete the training within the first 3-6 months of hire.
