The primary purpose of the role is leadership of people and management of processes to enable delivery of business excellence. The focus is on getting things done safely to deliver excellent customer service. You'll work within a team of station managers covering Bristol Temple Meads and 16 other stations in the Bristol and North Somerset area.
Your main responsibilities will be?
1. Providing minute-by-minute management of the station, including ticket office, concourse, customer information desks, information and customer service, gateline, train dispatch and train/station cleaning.
2. Line Manager accountability and leadership for a specific area of the station team.
3. Being accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the station on a shift basis.
4. Ensuring the highest levels of customer service and safety are provided by all colleagues.
5. Managing contractors working on the station and assisting in the delivery of the Bristol Regeneration programme of works.
6. Monitoring the delivery of station environmental quality, safety, maintenance, cleaning and customer service standards and performance, taking action where necessary to achieve required standards, ensuring a clear focus on attention to detail.
7. Working to improve punctuality and providing delay information to the appropriate systems.
8. Creating a culture where customer service is recognised, and customer expectations are exceeded.
You'll need to be:
9. Able to communicate at all levels verbally and in writing.
10. A self-starter with the ability to proactively resolve issues before they escalate.
11. A strong lateral thinker.
12. Able to demonstrate a flexible approach.
13. Focused on improving customer service standards.
14. Adaptable and resilient as the Railway moves towards a 7-day/24-hour operation.
As a minimum you'll need to have:
15. Experience of managing a large customer service team.
16. Experience of successfully creating and delivering customer service initiatives.
17. A successful track record of dealing with complex customer issues.
18. Experience of managing a complex operational team.
19. Experience of delivering performance related targets.
20. Experience of managing delay budgets and industry performance budgets.
21. Strong computer literacy skills (MS word, excel
22. Awareness of the GWR network in the Bristol suburban area and Severn Beach Line.
About the location:
You'll be working at Bristol Temple Meads and a number of key suburban stations around Bristol and North Somerset, with a total footfall of over 14 million customers per year.
Working Pattern:
Working as part of a large team, you will be expected to support the team and the business when it's needed most. Whilst ensuring you enjoy regular time away from work, you will be expected to support the station during special events and railway upgrade work, and therefore working during weekends or unsocial hours on occasion is part and parcel of working on an ever-operational railway.
Additional Information:
This role comes with an on-call responsibility, supporting our front-line teams and customers 24/7. Typically, you will be on call for one 24-hour shift per week, but this is subject to business needs. While you will be based at Bristol Temple Meads, you will need to travel across the GWR network on a regular basis.
