Please note: this opportunity is only available to current University of Worcester Students The Academic Quality Unit has exciting opportunities for undergraduate or postgraduate students to be involved as Student Panel Members in our approval and re-approval events. This a fantastic opportunity for detail-orientated individuals to add valuable skills (such as communication, analysis, teamwork etc.) and experience to their CVs, to improve employability prospects. This is a flexible post that can normally work around study and other work commitments. The University, as part of its wider student engagement agenda, is interested in understanding students’ views on its courses, and how these support students’ learning and development. One way in which we obtain students’ views is through the Course Approval/Re-approval process. The key principle of the process is to ensure that the academic standards and quality of all University of Worcester (UW) awards, wherever they are delivered, are appropriate and fit for purpose. Participating in quality processes as a Student Panel Member can provide students with an opportunity to actively engage with our quality processes and in the development and improvement of our courses. Role Responsibilities The role has two stages: Student Panel Members are expected to prepare for the approval event by reading course documentation and providing initial questions for the agenda. This stage can be managed flexibly around existing study and work commitments to ensure there are as few barriers as possible to taking part. The second stage is to attend the course approval event, usually online via Microsoft Teams, and to participate as a panel member and actively contribute to the discussions. Candidate Requirements Suitable candidates for the role will demonstrate through their application an awareness of, or an interest in: analysing and querying complex documentation, contributing to the wider university, taking part in formal committees or meetings, and working as a member of a panel or team. Training and Opportunities Successful applicants will be provided with initial training and one to one support where required. There should be an opportunity for each student to participate in at least two or three events per academic year. Information Sessions Information sessions about the role will be held on Friday 24th January (12:30pm - 1pm) and Wednesday 29th January (1pm – 1:30pm) online via Microsoft Teams. Applicants are encouraged to attend one of these sessions prior to submitting their application. For a Teams link to join an information session, or any initial queries about the role, please contact Teresa Nahajski, Senior Quality Officer at t.nahajskiworc.ac.uk or Philip Wright, Quality Officer at philip.wrightworc.ac.uk.
