Job Description:
The Deepings Practice is a large practice based in Market Deeping with a branch site at Glinton, serving over 24,000 patients. The practice has a large team of clinical and non-clinical staff led by seven partners and a full senior management team. We have a CQC score of Good and strive for excellence in all areas of patient care. We focus on health promotion and personalized care, supporting patients to make informed decisions about their health and social care. We are a dynamic, friendly, and supportive team with experience in training GPs and other healthcare professionals.
Job Summary:
* The post-holder will project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous, and efficient way.
* Assist in the preparation, dispensing, and sale of prescriptions and assist with stock control, ordering, and re-stocking of the dispensary.
* In conjunction with other team members, the post-holder will be prepared to cover the work of colleagues when they are absent through annual leave or illness.
Senior Dispenser role:
* Work with the Dispensary lead to ensure the smooth running of the dispensary team.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with the team to ensure they understand their duties and delegated responsibilities.
* Oversee day-to-day dispensary operations and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Ensure the formulary is adhered to and support the Dispensary Lead in implementing change.
* Train and support dispensary staff to maintain high standards of care.
* Accurately and securely dispense medicines, ensuring zero discrepancies.
* Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet patient medication requests.
* Manage stock levels in the dispensary.
Main Duties:
* Use the in-house clinical system to ensure all relevant information is recorded onto individual patient records as required.
* Collect prescription charges/check patient exemption statements and share responsibility for their accurate recording and safe keeping.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures to receive requests for and accurately process/dispense all prescriptions.
* Follow Standard Operating Procedures to safely and accurately assemble and check Dossett boxes.
* Liaise with doctors, hospitals, and other health professionals where indicated, including branch surgery and Practice nursing staff.
* Share responsibility for the correct management, safe issuing, and recording of controlled drugs.
* Maintain equipment in a clean and tidy condition, including the robotic dispenser, adhering to our Dispensary Housekeeping Protocol.
* Use our in-house clinical system to maintain adequate stock levels, order stock, and receive stock.
* Assist the Senior Dispenser in regularly checking all invoices against delivery notes, taking responsibility for following up any discrepancies as appropriate.
* Check, count, and file prescriptions.
