Main duties of the job The Junior Fellow in Paediatrics post offers a 12 month rotation, consisting of 2 speciality posts in a combination of general paediatrics, subspecialty medical paediatrics, paediatric surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, paediatric cardiology, NICU or Paediatric Emergency Medicine.This role provides experience in the clinical management of paediatric patients within these teams and includes ward rounds, clinical meetings, clerking new patients and reviews. You will also contribute to the on-call rota in your relevant department, including evenings, weekends and night shifts. This role will include: In hours work within your team. This may include ward rounds, shifts in Childrens ED or neonates where you will cover NICU, deliveries and the postnatal ward. You may be able to attend clinics in your relevant speciality You will be expected to attend departmental meetings and educational sessions You will contribute to the on-call rota for your department You will be expected to be able to manage basic administrative tasks relevant to your speciality team Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust appointed (non-training fellow doctors and dentists). Successful candidates will have an educational framework equivalent to training grade doctors, and there will be a named educational supervisor assigned at the start of the post. The opportunity for Continued Professional Development (CPD) is highly supported and encouraged by the Trust, with options available to take study leave. All licensed doctors must meet the GMC requirements for revalidation and there will be an annual appraisal to support this process.
