We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced warehouse Technical Support operative to join our established community equipment service in Gateshead.
Gateshead Equipment service is a central provider of a wide range of community loan equipment and wheelchairs to support patients in maintaining their personal independence, safety, and mobility.
We are looking for a customer-focused enthusiastic operative who will support and maintain planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, and testing of a range of equipment and ensure stringent infection control guidelines are adhered to in cleaning equipment. You will have experience of multi-drop operations and experience in the assembly of furniture or other equipment. You will also support the wider team including warehouse, technical, and delivery staff when required, assisting in areas such as repairs, technical installations, and delivery/removal of equipment. You will also support the Warehouse Operations Officer in stock control, perpetual inventory, and stock take activity.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have:
1. Experience of managing & prioritising workload and being able to multi-task.
2. Experience of using electronic patient records / electronic ordering systems, hand-held scanning devices.
3. Experience of multi-drop deliveries / warehouse or logistics operations.
4. Experience of repair, maintenance & servicing of equipment including hoists, profiling beds, mattresses, and pumps.
5. Experience of vehicle safety checks and driving legislation and safe, efficient driving.
6. Experience of risk assessments, lone working, COSHH, and Health and Safety legislation.
7. Experience of PAT and LOLER testing.
8. Must hold a full driving licence.
This post is 37.5 hours based at Team Valley Gateshead (5 days per week).

Job responsibilities
To support and maintain the issue, collection, recording, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment issued from the loan equipment warehouse on a daily basis.
To ensure that local and national cleaning / maintenance / refurbishment standards for equipment are adhered to at all times.
Carry out routine planned and reactive maintenance / adjustment of equipment as required, including mechanical repairs and electrical testing.
To support the integrity of the equipment management system stock control.

Experience
* Experience of undertaking a maintenance role including basic electrics and mechanical.
* Experience of computer packages and software including MS Office - Excel, Word, Outlook.
* Experience of warehouse stock control inventory, perpetual inventory, use of electronic handheld devices.
* Experience of work involving regular contact with patients, carers, and multi-disciplinary health and social care workforce.
* Experience of supporting planned and reactive maintenance programmes in a range of environments.
* Experience of community equipment / medical devices assembling/ dissembling equipment / furniture.
* Experience of operating electronic warehouse / maintenance systems.
* Experience of community loan equipment service.
* Experience of working in patients' own homes or community settings.
* Experience of providing instruction on products / product use.
Qualifications
* Good general level of education to a minimum of level 1 literacy and numeracy standards or relevant experience.
* Hold relevant technical certificate, for example, City & Guilds or equivalent (mechanical, electrical, building operations) or have significant experience in a related role.
* Knowledge of related regulations including COSHH, LOLER, and PAT.
Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills with proven experience of working with professionals at all levels and the public.
* Demonstrate organisational and planning skills with proven ability to manage own workload.
* Good knowledge and practical skills of working in maintenance/ warehouse/logistics/transport environment.
* Have ability to demonstrate a range of products/provide technical advice and instruction.

* Knowledge and experience of using electronic operating system, for example, Elms2 for warehouse stock control.

* Undertake driving duties including the delivery of equipment, assisting with two-person jobs, and supporting in urgent situations.
* Ability to use a range of tools and equipment e.g., drill, screwdriver, and other hand tools.
* Manual dexterity and coordination are required to carry out adjustments to wheelchairs and equipment.
* Standard keyboard skills / use of electronic devices.
* Ensure that vehicles are loaded/unloaded in a safe manner.
* Full clean UK driving license.
