The Surface Control Centre (SCC) is a world-class operation delivering safe journeys across Transport for London’s Surface network, including London’s iconic Buses, Roads, and Tunnels. We deliver highly effective and efficient command and leadership of the Surface (non-rail) network to ensure TfL provides a world-class integrated service to its customers.
Our Control Centre operates 24/7, reflecting the diverse nature of the city in our teams. We invest in our staff with bespoke training and career development, supporting colleagues with dedicated People Managers and Staff Network Groups.

The Network Operations Coordinator Role
You will be responsible for:
* Managing real-time incidents on London’s road network, focusing on the safety of pedestrians, passengers, and cyclists.
* Managing real-time incidents on London’s bus network, coordinating with Bus Operators for unplanned diversions.
* Communicating with partners including Bus drivers, Bus Operating companies, contractors, and emergency services.
* Supporting TfL colleagues in delivering the transport network.
* Using operational tools and systems to handle calls and log response activity.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Ways of Working
* Good knowledge of the London Road network and congestion minimization.
* Knowledge of traffic and bus systems and operations.
* Ability to quickly understand new systems and adjust to technological advancements.
* Ability to act decisively in response to operational issues.
* Ability to multi-task and manage large-scale incidents.
* Highly developed problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Experience in a real-time command and control environment.
Shifts
As part of a 24/7 operation, you will work a shift roster including early shifts (06:30 – 14:30), late shifts (14:00 – 22:00), and night shifts (21:30 – 07:00) on a rotational basis. You must be able to attend all shifts, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
