Job Summary
We are looking to welcome individuals who are committed to delivering high quality care with a positive and caring attitude, have excellent communication skills and be committed to the HUTH NHS Trust Vision and Values by joining our Paediatric Bank Team. Bank shifts will be available in paediatric areas such as:
* Woodland Ward - A busy 20 bedded medical ward, caring for acutely unwell babies, children and young people, including those on high flow therapy.
* PAU - A fast paced assessment unit open 24/7 accepting referrals from both primary and secondary care settings.
* Acorn Ward - A busy 18 bedded surgical ward, caring for children under many different surgical specialities such as orthopaedics, plastics, ENT, max fax and general surgery.
You would be welcomed by our substantive team and would be offered supernumerary shifts to orientate you to the wards prior to being counted in the nurse staffing numbers.
Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain a high standard of patient focused care in accordance with Hull University Teaching Hospitals Trust policies and procedures.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, ensuring accurate written records are kept.
* Communicate with patients and carers to ensure they have access to appropriate information.
* Promote and maintain positive relationships between all staff involved in the care of the patient.
* Act in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Conduct.
* Demonstrate personal responsibility for compliance with infection control policies and procedures.
* Undertake duties on different wards/departments as and when required by service demands.
Qualifications
Essential:
* RN Child
Desirable:
* PILS
* EPALS
Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential:
* Since gaining registration can demonstrate evidence of successful transition into a registered nurse role having completed preceptorship package.
* IV competencies.
* Evidence of meeting NMC revalidation requirements.
Desirable:
* Experience in an acute hospital setting.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
Essential:
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with children, families and work colleagues.
* Ability to manage a case load of patients safely.
* Good organisational skills.
Special Attributes and Other
Essential:
* Delivery of high standard, evidence based, patient care.
* Adherence to uniform policy at all times.
* Physical capability to perform nursing duties, including lifting of patients and equipment.
* Flexibility to move to other paediatric areas as the service demands.
