Job Description
COSLA is the voice of Local Government in Scotland. We provide political leadership on national issues and work with councils to improve local services and strengthen local democracy. From funding to housing, roads to early years, and social care to dealing with UK Exit from the EU, our job is to champion councils' vital work and secure the resources and powers they need. We are a councillor-led, cross-party organisation which works on Councils' behalf to focus on the challenges and opportunities they face, and to engage positively with Government and others on policy, funding and legislation
The Officer will have a significant and impactful role as Lead Officer in the secretariat for COSLA's key governance structures, such as COSLA's Convention, Leaders and Policy Board meetings, which normally take place on Fridays. The postholder will be the central point of contact for Elected Members and senior stakeholders in relation to all aspects of COSLA meetings and related queries. The Officer will need to display a high level of judgement and confidentiality and be able to recognise sensitive political nuances, whilst working working within organisational procedures. The postholder will also manage a small Business Support function.
