Boyatt Wood Surgery is a well-established practice in Eastleigh Hampshire, with an excellent reputation for patient care, offering a full range of NHS and enhanced services. We have a total of 8 GPs, 8 ANPs, nurses and HCAs all of whom form a friendly, dedicated, and supportive team. The total list size of our 2 practices is 23,000 (and rising) patients, with mixed demographic. There is excellent support from a multi-disciplinary team of GPs, ANPs and Practice Nurses. Boyatt Wood Surgery is looking for a dynamic Practice nurse to join our team. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of Practice nurse services, including chronic disease management and treatment room care.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the nursing and multidisciplinary team providing high standards of care to our patients:
* Chronic disease management (either asthma or diabetes)
* Administration of routine childhood, adult and travel immunisations
* Cervical screening
Job responsibilities
The Practice Nurse will work as part of the primary healthcare team providing Personal Medical Services to the patients of the Practice.
* Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior staff and GPs
* Chronic disease management (either asthma or diabetes)
* Cytology
* Removal of Sutures and clips
* ECGs
* Venepuncture
* Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations and managing recall systems
* Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
* Administer Injections like B12, Depo, Nebido, Clexane, Zoladex, Pneumonia, Shingles & Flu
* Check GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
* Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
* Ordering of Health Promotion Literature
* Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels
* Checking emergency equipment and fridge temp
* Responsible for Drug Box, First aid box and oxygen.
* Participation in administrative systems in the Practice
* At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records
* A duty to advise senior staff of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks
* Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required
* On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits
* Attend any training as required and participate in Nurse Meetings, clinical meetings Practice Meeting.

Qualifications
* NMC registered
* Chronic disease management
Experience
* Min 1 year experience working in a nursing team
* Experience working in a GP surgery.
