GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Patient Coordinator serves as a diplomat of compassion, caring and personalization for the UMass Memorial Medical Center.
This position is per diem position. Will be backup for the primary coordinator and work On Call E/O weekend and some evenings, Holidays and vacations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Streamline the scheduling and arrival of patients in coordination with patient and departments ensuring prompt access to specialists
* Make arrangements for and/or escort patients or visitors to UMass Memorial Medical Center as requested by the Development office staff
* Develops professional familiarity with selected patients and families to promote their appreciation of the Medical Center and the Medical Center's understanding of their interest and philanthropic potential
* Cultivate relationships with established and potential patients, visitors, clients
* Acquire and maintain a broad based knowledge of the services provided by UMass Memorial Health Care, Inc.(UMass Memorial)
* Research and distribute educational materials to clients based on knowledge of the UMass Memorial system
* Develop client/hospital relationships and collaborate with UMass Memorial physicians and their support staffs to provide timely and efficient healthcare services to Development clients thereby encouraging philanthropy
* Participate in the planning and execution of special events that are designed to educate and involve donor interest in UMass Memorial healthcare
* Provide updates to senior leadership and Development staff regarding patients or visitors outcomes
* Round on inpatients who appear on daily patient census
* Develop methods for monitoring and measuring program effectiveness
* Maintains a client database and generates information to and from clients
* Perform other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
* 3 years of related experience, including customer service, business, administrative and clerical experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
* Knowledge of computerized database and Microsoft Office Applications
* Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with physicians and their support staffs, development staff, donors and UMass Memorial clients
* Excellent written and verbal skills to assist with the preparation of presentations, department reports and major donor correspondence
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
* Ability to travel to offsite locations
* Ability to work nights, weekends and on call
* Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
