The Role
We’re recruiting for the first Vocational Trainers at HMP Millsike, a brand-new prison estate set to open in Spring 2025. If you’re passionate about making a difference through education, this is your chance to help shape our new curriculum and deliver high-quality training from the very start.
About the Role
As a Multi-Skills Construction Vocational Trainer, you’ll deliver practical, hands-on training in plastering, painting and decorating, tiling, and dry lining up to City & Guilds Level 2, preparing learners for assessments and real-world applications. Working with a cohort of up to 18 learners, your role will focus on building essential skills, fostering employability, and promoting personal growth. You’ll be a central figure in guiding learners on their journey toward meaningful employment upon release.
What You’ll Do
* Teach Practical Construction Skills: Lead engaging sessions on plastering, painting, tiling, and dry lining, and prepare learners for their City & Guilds Level 2 assessments.
* Adapt and Support Diverse Learners: Use adaptive training techniques to meet varied learning needs, ensuring each learner progresses confidently.
* Promote Safety and Tool Management: Conduct regular tool checks and uphold rigorous health and safety standards in a secure workshop environment.
* Incorporate Employability and Digital Skills: Embed employability and digital literacy within practical sessions to enhance learners’ readiness for today’s workforce.
* Encourage Personal Growth Through Restorative Practices: Foster a supportive training environment, motivating learners to engage, reflect, and take responsibility for their learning journey.
Who We’re Looking For
* Essential Requirements:
o Qualified in construction trades to at least Level 2, with a Level 2 in Maths and English.
o Strong experience in delivering vocational training or instruction in a practical setting.
o A passion for motivating and supporting learners toward achieving their goals.

If you’re excited to lead by example, inspire change, and support individuals on a path to long-term success, we want to hear from you. Join us at HMP Millsike and play a vital role in shaping a brighter future for our learners and their communities.
Working Hours:
This is a full-time role, 38.5 hours per week, with the following schedule:
* Four days per week: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
