Job Purpose
To support Warwickshire Police in developing a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve by targeting areas of underrepresentation in attraction, retention and progression.
Main Responsibilities
1. Identify areas of under-representation within the workforce and develop appropriate Positive Action initiatives that seek to increase the diversity of the workforce.
2. Lead and engage in the delivery of positive action initiatives, with both internal and external stakeholders and audiences.
3. Co-ordinate and manage the force Workforce Representation plan to ensure key deliverables are achieved.
4. Working with SLT, review and analyse recruitment, progression and retention data to identify areas where positive action can support under-represented groups.
5. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of Positive Action initiatives and produce regular update briefings and reports to the Organisational Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Board.
6. Adopt a collaborative approach to provide leadership and guidance to internal and external candidates, enabling them to compete on equal terms for jobs, career development and training.
7. Act as a diversity, equality and inclusion champion, representing the force at key internal and external meetings relating to positive action / equality, diversity and inclusion.
8. Identify and co-ordinate the required resources to support Positive Action initiatives.
9. Provide advice and support to supervisors and work with other departments to promote the aims of Positive Action initiatives internally and externally.
10. Support the delivery of key workstreams to ensure recruitment, retention and progression within Warwickshire Police in line with the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion strategy and strategic delivery plan.
11. Engage with all staff networks to maximise opportunities for collaborative working and instigate joint initiatives.
12. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required.

Person Specification
Knowledge:
* Degree / level 5 qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. Marketing, Social Research, Business Management) or equivalent experience
* Proven ability to plan, organise and manage activities and time effectively
* An understanding of equality legislation and its practical application
* An understanding of current diversity issues
* The ability to interpret information to provide professional advice and support to the organisation
Experience:
* Identifying and dealing with retention and progression issues (Desirable)
* Delivering presentations both internally and externally
* Drafting and delivering written reports
* Engaging with seldom heard communities
* Engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across varying levels
Key Skills:
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to develop reports and presentations
* Ability to manage a range of activities to various and conflicting deadlines
* Capable of working on own initiative, under minimal supervision, prioritising workload, and remaining calm under pressure
* Ability to consult with external agencies to negotiate force requirements
* Excellent influencing and negotiating skills
* A proven ability to work with Executive/Command level personnel
* Ability to analyse different sources of data and information, identify improvements and to be able present this in a coherent format.
