The role
London Borough of Croydon is looking for an experienced Planning Officer to shape the delivery of the duties under the Mental Capacity Act relating to deprivation of liberty safeguards, which forms part of the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance Service based in Bernard Weatherill House, Croydon. This post provides a planning and coordination role with regards to applications that are received from Managing Authorities for people who may be deprived of their liberty and for whom a deprivation of liberty safeguard assessment is required. The officer will also have sufficient knowledge of this area of work to be able to provide basic advice to Managing Authorities in the absence of the MCA/DOLS Manager. We are ideally looking for a candidate who has previous experience working in an MCA & DoLS Team in a similar capacity.
Key responsibilities
* To support the lead officers to ensure DoLS are managed, screened and responded to appropriately within the time scales.
* To support the lead officers to co-ordinate assessments/renewals within the timescales.
* To adhere to the ADASS guidance for prioritising allocations of application.
* Provide support and guidance to providers in relation to DoLS.
* Completion of required documentation ready for authorised signatories.
* Quality assure assessments on receipt to ensure assessments are accurate and meet guidance.
* To ensure that the annual DHSC datasets are completed and submitted on time.
You will support the other members of the DOLS Team with fulfilling their duties and ensure that all assessors submit the necessary documentation, and receive prompt receipt of payment. You will be provided to give advice to Managing Authorities about the process and direct any queries necessary to other members of the team.
