Job Title: Senior Accountant – Rates

Salary: £55,000+ depending on skills and experience

What you’ll be doing:
\n
\n
* Timely and accurate submission of statutory supplier reports to the Regulator and supporting rates claims to the MoD
\n
* Regular liaison and active engagement with the customer auditors to effectively co-ordinate audit activities
\n
* High quality audit query responses, through effective collaboration with other parts of Finance and the wider business
\n
* Calculation of robust and timely Actual, Forecast and Estimate Business Rates, underpinned by agreed Business assumptions, with a clear articulation of movements and impacts
\n
* Support to Business Partners through ad-hoc scenario rates modelling
\n
* Support to the Rates Capability Centre on its transformation journey, through sharing of learning, ongoing collaboration, delivery of change work packages and active engagement with other team members
\n
\n
Your skills and experiences:
\n
Essential:
\n
\n
* Good understanding of the role of rates in business planning processes, bid work, and cost recovery
\n
* Customer service mindset
\n
* Microsoft Excel skills and proven experience in financial modelling
\n
* Strength in analysis of data and provision of relevant management information to enable decision making
\n
* Experience using ERP systems / Planning Analytics
\n
* Holds a Accounting qualification or studying towards
\n
\n
Desirable:
\n
\n
* Experience of engaging with auditors and coordinating audit responses effectively
\n
* Good knowledge of Single Source Contracting Regulations, in particular Allowable Cost Guidance
\n
* Good understanding of MOD Accounting rules
\n
\n

The Analyst Team:
\n
Join a dynamic and forward-thinking team within Head Office, supporting the Maritime Services business, reporting directly to the Maritime + Land Sector Senior Finance Manager for Rates. You’ll play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth running of the business through calculation of actual and estimate costing and pricing rates. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the Finance function and will need to build strong relationships with our main external customer, the auditors in the UK MOD. Together with Rates Analysts from across the UK, you will work on standardising and improving the rates services offered by our Capability Centre.
