Join NICE as a Strategy Expert in the use of Artificial Intelligence for transforming the work of NICE!
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and transformation? NICE is seeking an experienced Scientific Adviser to drive forward our organisational evolution by harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in health technology assessment (HTA) and evidence-based decision making. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping NICE’s future, ensuring we maximise AI’s capabilities in the conduct of health technology assessment.
You will work in NICE’s HTA lab, a multi-stakeholder test environment, examining where AI is likely to disrupt HTA in the near future and how NICE can adapt. You will provide expert guidance on the adoption of AI technologies in the context of health and care guidance development, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, regulatory frameworks, and ethical considerations. You will lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives that integrate AI into NICE’s processes, working collaboratively across teams.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in strategy development, experience in leading change, and a deep understanding of the potential and challenges of AI in healthcare and policy environments. If you thrive in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment and are ready to shape the future of NICE, we would love to hear from you.
NICE has a newly established Health Technology Assessment innovation laboratory (HTA Lab). HTA Lab offers a ‘safe space’ for creating solutions to complex problems in health technology assessment in collaboration with system partners and stakeholders. The HTA Lab team has already worked on one topic relating to the use of artificial intelligence for economic modelling but other related topics are planned as the portfolio of HTA Lab projects continues to develop and expand. This includes a new project with a focus on the future of AI in HTA, and whether it can support new concepts, such as continuous health technology assessment of interventions.
The Scientific Adviser Will Work In a Team That Adopts a Flexible Approach, Meaning That The Specific Tasks Assigned To The Post-holders May Change In Response To Business Needs. Activities Will Include:
* Developing NICE responses to science policy issues.
* Leading and chairing work package meetings through the HTA lab.
* Working with colleagues across NICE and external stakeholders to identify and prioritise areas where methodological research is needed.
* Communicating and working effectively with key strategic leads in relevant external organisations.
* Drawing from, and bringing in expertise from, other key knowledge leaders to support the development of new content and processes.
* Drafting guidance, discussion documents, and publications as required.
The Science Evidence and Analytics (SEA) Directorate is responsible for ensuring that NICE uses the best available evidence in its guidance to support decision makers across health and care. The Data and Analytics Programme sits within the SEA Directorate, with our remit to support the whole organisation. We provide leadership in real-world data and real-world evidence to ensure NICE uses the best and most appropriate evidence in supporting its guidance and products. We also work with system partners to ensure that NICE has access to a comprehensive range of health and care data that can inform guidance and enables us to be part of a system that continually learns from data and implementation.
NICE has a number of AI-related activities which will complement this work, including grant funded multi-national research projects such as SYNTHIA, which is exploring the use of synthetic data for health technology assessment. In addition, we are undertaking a number of pilot projects related to the incorporation of artificial intelligence-enhanced research methods.
Benefits We Offer:
