Band 6 Research Nurse/Clinical Trials Practitioner - Perioperative Medicine and Cardiovascular Surgery (1 year fixed term)
An exciting opportunity for a motivated and driven Research Nurse or Clinical Trials Practitioner has arisen to work within the adult cardiovascular surgery & perioperative medicine research group and the Barts Bio Resource based at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.
Our group offers a unique variety of research experiences and is a fantastic place to learn the specialty.
As part of our routine day, we work in the Pre-Operative Assessment Units, Theatres, Recovery, Critical Care Units and Surgical wards. You will be closely involved with the staff and patients in all of these departments and more widely across the Hospital, supporting the Barts Bio Resource programme.
Your primary base will be at St. Bartholomew's Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be committed to evidence-based practice and will be involved in the day-to-day management of research studies and the Barts Bio Resource. This includes: patient recruitment, data collection, research protocol development, data quality assurance and liaison with the clinicians responsible for patient care. You will be expected to show initiative and autonomy in the running of the clinical trials.
You will have experience in cardiothoracic surgery and/or critical care, strong organisational and planning skills and be an effective communicator. Research experience is desirable but not essential and you are able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team.

Our team works Monday to Friday and our working hours vary depending on the research study. We may have to start early or work late allowing flexibility in the working hours. This is a one year fixed term contract and a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.
