Lead Buyer – 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Swindon (hybrid)

You will lead procurement strategy execution within your business unit or region, managing local, global, and outsourced teams. You ensure compliance with JM policies, category strategies, and procurement processes while representing business needs in functional forums. Your role includes driving collaboration between global, GBS, and site teams, clarifying responsibilities, and ensuring adherence to the procurement operating model. Additionally, you are responsible for achieving key performance metrics and championing process excellence and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities:
Business Partnering
1. Act as the primary procurement contact for local stakeholders and leadership teams.
2. Influence and manage local demand to ensure spending efficiency and category effectiveness.
3. Develop and execute local savings plans and support global strategies.
4. Represent local procurement needs in global category management discussions.
5. Drive communication and implementation of procurement strategies, policies, and supplier management practices.
6. Lead key local strategic initiatives and support global projects where needed.
7. Act as a liaison between sites, suppliers, and procurement teams for performance management.
8. Foster collaboration with procurement counterparts across JM businesses.
9. Optimize procurement services by leveraging the GBS and Genpact relationships.
10. Resolve escalations from stakeholders and suppliers.
Operations
1. Provide strategic procurement support and ensure smooth end-to-end service delivery.
2. Address supplier and stakeholder issues that cannot be resolved via standard processes.
3. Ensure compliance and effective use of procurement tools like Coupa.
4. Manage local supplier relationships and contribute to global supplier strategies.
5. Support category management through supplier insights and buying strategy input.
6. Take ownership of assigned procurement projects and tasks.
Continuous Improvement
1. Share best practices and collaborate on procurement enhancements across teams.
2. Lead site-level continuous improvement initiatives to mitigate risks and optimize procurement processes.
Requirements for the role:
1. 8-10 years of senior experience in procurement, preferably in the automotive, chemical, or FMCG sectors.
2. Proven experience in managing procurement processes, focusing on sourcing, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement.
3. Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, ensuring high performance at local and regional levels.
4. Experience in global industries with complex operating models.
5. Skilled in project management, budget influencing, and leading collaboration to optimize the supplier ecosystem, delivering savings and innovation.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
7. Experience with P2P systems, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and procurement processes.
8. Ability to be on-site 3 days a week for hands-on collaboration and problem-solving.
9. Strong skills in communication, prioritization, leadership, and adaptability, along with skills in business acumen, strategic thinking, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
