An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Haematologist to join a friendly and enthusiastic team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. This post will be based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The post requires malignant and general haematological work. Candidates with any field of interest are encouraged to apply, but an interest and experience in haematological malignancy and chemotherapy is desirable. The work will be shared equally with other consultants to provide clinical, laboratory, liaison haematology service, and on-call duties. The development of a special interest by the appointee is encouraged and would align with the clinical interests of the Health Board.
The Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB Haematology service performs BCSH level 2 Haematology and has close links with the regional Haematology and BMT centre based in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, some 12 miles away.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Eligibility
* Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
* FRCPath or evidence of equivalent qualification. UK-trained applicants must hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of the award of CCT by the date of interview.
* Non-UK trained applicants will need to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
* MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification.
Knowledge and Experience
* Proven experience and ability in all areas of clinical haematology
* Proven experience in haematological oncology
* Proven experience and competence in reporting bone marrow/trephines and blood films
* Proven record of service development
* Laboratory-based research experience
Skills and Abilities
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
Interests and Personal Disposition
* Proven leadership skills and a responsible attitude
* A commitment to providing a strong clinically-oriented service
* Interest in teaching and training medical and non-medical staff
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary environment
* Good organisational skills, ability to work to deadlines, work on own initiative, and prioritise workload
* Interest in other specialties outside the field of haematology
* Active interest in research and development
