Join Our Team as an IT Operations Manager!
Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in our dynamic IT Operations team? As our IT Operations Manager, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Trust’s server and desktop infrastructure.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Proactive and Reactive Management: Oversee and manage our server and desktop infrastructure, ensuring everything runs seamlessly.
2. Problem Management: Collaborate with specialist areas to tackle issues head-on, ensuring SLA targets are consistently met.
3. Technical Escalation Point: Act as the go-to expert for resolving technical incidents involving servers, networks, telephony, and desktops.
4. Senior IT Support: Provide top-tier IT support and break-fix services to the Trust and our valued stakeholder organisations.
If you’re passionate about IT and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we want to hear from you!
As IT Operations Manager, you'll oversee the Technical Services Team, ensuring secure and consistent delivery of server, network, and telephony services. You will manage both proactive and reactive aspects of the server and desktop infrastructure, support problem management, and act as the escalation point for technical incidents. The role includes providing senior IT support, working weekends and unsociable hours when necessary, and participating in the on-call rota.
As one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust, we treat everything from common illnesses to highly complex and specialist conditions. We also provide specialist inpatient care for children with complex mental health needs in our recently relocated and newly opened state-of-the-art facility.
Alder Hey has a thriving research portfolio and leads research into children’s medicines, infection, inflammation, and oncology. We contribute to public health, lead cutting-edge research, and teach the next generation of children’s specialists.
As the IT Operations Manager, you will have responsibility for server and storage infrastructure, network voice and data services, and collaborate with other teams and partner organisations both clinical and administrative working within the Trust.
You will be the lead in project delivery and implementation support of key infrastructure and will be responsible for delivering business-as-usual technical support services for several key areas 24/7.
You'll also fill a supervisory role in overseeing the day-to-day operations and activities of the technical services department, managing a team of technical service engineers and procurement services. You will establish and enforce team policies, procedures, and client relations standards.
Your strong technical expertise enables you to effectively identify and mitigate technological risks and deficiencies, analyse cyber and information security threats, and recommend improvements. Additionally, you have experience supporting proof of concept activities for new digital solutions.
As an excellent communicator, you’ll be comfortable liaising with customers and translating technical requirements for staff at all levels. You’ll bridge the gap between technical concepts and user needs while effectively communicating technical solutions to stakeholders and developers. You'll also have excellent organisational skills, being able to analyse complex service provision issues and make complex resource allocation decisions.
The role will also require you to support the wider management team in managing contracts with third-party suppliers to ensure value for money and responsiveness. You'll assist with financial planning and budgeting, manage project budgets, and highlight cost pressures.
Finally, as a strong leader, you'll be committed to both your personal professional development whilst providing guidance, mentorship, and career development and training opportunities for team members.
