This every expanding Freight Forwarding, Warehousing and Fulfillment business now opearte nationwide via 8 Warehouses at 7 locations, with over 1300 employees Night Transport Manager Role Summary The Night Transport Manager manages and coordinates the transport network through the night operation, ensuring the successful movement of UK and International product, in and around the UK to our customers, suppliers and sites. The Night Transport Manager assists in making strategic decisions that affect the overall operation, including cost and service. One team Your Responsibilities What you do: - Manage and control the transport budget and service levels for each contract - Ensuring the sites have processed deliveries and loading accurately. - Carry out site security procedures and checks. - Complete ad hoc vehicle checks to ensure pre checks are being completed and additional equipment required is serviceable. - Responsible for ensuring mandatory training is scheduled and training record cards maintained. Scheduling all training and assessment activity. - All vehicle and FLT maintenance is scheduled. - Regular reporting to management on results and ensuring follow-up action where required. - Accountable for incident and accident control and preparing paperwork for any regulatory bodies. Ensuring completion of accident investigations and H&S Documents on H&S System. - Liaising with and managing staffing schedules to customer requirements. - Reviewing amending where necessary, delivery routes and schedules. - Identifying and proactively booking agency cover where required. - Cost Management, approving agency timesheets and ensuring agency spend controls are in place. - Direct responsibility for the network transport operation out of hours. - Managing all administration, customer quotes, invoicing and operating IT systems and processes for each customer. - Accountable for vehicle and driver compliance, reviewing telematics and infringements are actioned in a timely manner. - Monitoring stock accuracy and loss. - Reducing cost within the operation, especially sub-contracting, whilst maintaining service levels. - Accountable for drivers' hours, holidays and rest days. - Proactively recruiting skilled colleagues, keeping labour turnover to a minimum. - Proactive recovery planning. Person specifications Must Have: - A good level of literacy and numeracy - Knowledgeable of current transportation and health and safety regulations - IT skills (Microsoft Office and Warehousing Systems) - An understanding of current health and safety regulations - Understanding of basic employment law - A flexible approach to work and the ability to work with changing demands (including shift patterns) - 3 Years' experience of Transportation Management - CPC Certificate - Desirable - Basic understanding of route planning/optimisation Shift pattern: - Sunday-Thursday 21:00-06:00hrs Salary range: between £45-£50k depending on experience, rising to £55k on completion of Manager's CPC ADZN1_UKTJ
