Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a Specialist Support Assistant to work full-time supporting a key stage 1 child with ASD. The role is to start in January 2025 when the child starts at the school. As it is their first, full-time placement within a school setting, it can only be expected that the child may face some challenges adjusting to school life. The successful practitioner must have experience of supporting children with special educational needs, preferably autism. The Head Teacher has stipulated that the successful practitioner should be of a nurturing nature, capable of establishing strong working relationships, and be ready to hit the ground running. You would work closely with the Head Teacher, SENCO, and pupil’s parents to co-ordinate the best possible care the student. You would be required to work on a 1:1 basis with the child to support them in accessing the National Curriculum and developing socially. The school are hoping that the child will soon be working within the whole class setting full-time, but may initially work away from the whole class whilst settling in. Therefore, you may be required to work outside of the class room providing intervention support. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
