Job Title: Shift Engineer
Location: Exeter | 4 on, 4 off days and nights
Salary: £43,500
The Shift Engineer is responsible for ensuring maximum uptime and efficient operation of the production plant. This includes conducting preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring compliance with Mechanical, Electrical, and Environmental statutory requirements. The role requires close collaboration with the Engineering Team Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventative maintenance (PPM) and address breakdowns to maximize plant uptime.
* Plan and execute long-term repairs with minimal disruption to production.
* Maintain pressure systems, including steam, condensate, and air systems.
* Oversee plant isolations to ensure safety for colleagues and contractors.
* Issue and manage Permits to Work and Isolation Certificates.
* Record all maintenance activities in the maintenance log and asset management systems.
* Uphold site security and cleanliness, including spill management.
* Follow health, safety, and environmental standards, including ISO 14001 and BS EN ISO 50001.
* Support production teams and contribute to daily projects and repairs.
Qualifications and Skills
* Mechanically and electrically qualified.
* Experience in boiler maintenance.
* Strong communicator and team player.
* Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
* Excellent awareness of health, safety, and COSHH regulations.
