The salary advertised is for a full-time position (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.
Hourly rate of pay: £17.04 - £18.45
This is a 52-week, non-sessional post, including working during school holidays.
Temporary maternity cover until 1st February 2026.
Days and Hours of Work:
Wednesday, 12:00-18:00
Thursday, 08:00-18:00
Friday, 10:45-18:00
Start date: 28th May 2025.

St Mary's RC Primary School is a vibrant, nurturing, and inclusive school community. We are a Roman Catholic School serving the needs of Roman Catholic and non-denominational pupils in Haddington. The school has 5 mainstream classes and a nursery. Our school roll is currently 115, and our nursery roll is 80. St Mary's shares a campus with Haddington Primary School, with its own music room, and shares facilities like the gym hall and dinner hall. We offer opportunities for staff development within the Council.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent. You should be able to demonstrate additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation related to Early Learning and Childcare.
SSSC registration
SSSC registration is mandatory for this role. If appointed and not already registered, you must apply within 3 months of starting to ensure registration within 6 months.
PVG Membership
This post is classified as a Regulated Role involving vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as per the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.
All preferred candidates for regulated roles with these groups will need to become a PVG Scheme member or update their existing membership before a formal offer is made.
