Role
Who are we and what do we do?
Social Work Scotland is the professional body for social work managers and leaders. We are a membership body, with members coming from across the public, private and voluntary sectors. We exist to promote and support the development of the social work profession and to influence and inform public policy affecting social workers, social services, and local communities.
Upholding the values which underpin the social work profession, we give importance to every individual’s experiences and voice, and seek to make social justice real through all that we do. We embrace change and encourage collaboration. We are committed to creating opportunities for our members and team through which individuals can develop as compassionate, creative, and effective leaders.
We particularly encourage applications from care experienced, disabled, and Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates, as these groups are underrepresented throughout the social work profession.
As the Finance and Administration Officer, you will be responsible for the organisation’s regular financial activities. You will process payments, payroll, expenses, and link directly with Social Work Scotland’s accountants over relevant financial matters. Part of a wider ‘operations’ team, you will support colleagues to plan and deliver their business. You will also collaborate directly with the Administration and Operations Officer to organise both online and in-person meetings.
This post is line managed by and reports to the Operations Manager.

St John Scotland is a national charity registered in Scotland and part of the global St John community. We are a unique organisation that operates both as a chivalric order and a charity focused on community health resilience. Our mission is to support NHS Scotland, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and other national and local organisations.
Our services, delivered across Scotland by 14 Local Area Committees and dedicated volunteers, include Patient Transport Services, Public Access Defibrillators, and CPR awareness; we also support Community First Responders groups. Additionally, we engage in international work, supporting a community-led healthcare program in Malawi and the St John Eye Hospital Group in the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.
About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to join us as a key support to our Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Board of Trustees. This new role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation and governance of our charity. The successful candidate will manage complex diaries, demanding agendas, and provide support to enable the COO to focus on strategic priorities.

The Supported Housing Worker role requires assisting in the management of the development, thus ensuring the tenants are able to enjoy an acceptable standard of living in an environment that is clean, safe, and friendly. You will be responsible for overseeing the wellbeing of the tenants and for assisting them in maintaining their independence.
As Housing Care Worker, your role will involve working with our tenants to ensure they receive the support and personal care identified in their care plans. You will directly support tenants in their homes by providing individual advice, practical housing support assistance, and personal care.
Both roles are to ensure that we are able to offer the best service to our tenants and make it possible for our tenants to continue enjoying as much independent living as they’re able.
As well as a competitive annual salary, our valued team also benefits from:
• competitive hourly rates of £12.25 - £12.50 per hour (pay award pending)
• guaranteed rota hours working between 7.30am & 10pm
• generous annual leave entitlement
• a choice of pension scheme with employer contributions
• flexible working policies
• access to extensive paid training and development opportunities
• a supportive and inclusive culture.
Previous experience working in social care or the housing sector would be an advantage, but this is not always necessary. Our ideal candidate is someone with enthusiasm, a caring nature, and willingness to learn as full training, support, and ongoing development will be provided.
The Scottish Policy & Research Exchange (SPRE) is seeking new trustees to help shape the organisation as it moves into the next phase of its growth. SPRE exists to support more equitable public governance and positive outcomes for people and the environment in Scotland. We do this through a range of capacity strengthening activities aimed at supporting meaningful connections and learning between researchers, knowledge mobilisers, policymakers, and practitioners.
SPRE is a values-led organisation seeking to live these values through our intersectional praxis. We are particularly keen to appoint new Trustees who align with these values and have strengths in any of the following skills and experience:
* Scottish politics and policy.
* Entrepreneurship and start-ups.
* Third sector governance.
* Business development and consultancy.
* Organisational policy development.
* Human resources and people matters.
* Experience as a Treasurer or with the financial governance of small charities.
We aim to recruit 5-7 Trustees, including a new Treasurer. We would welcome applicants with experience in setting up financial systems and good governance in a new, small organisation.
