Working for Nottingham City Council has great benefits. As well as competitive pay, great leave entitlement, and access to a generous pension scheme, we strive to create an innovative, inclusive, and progressive work culture where everyone is supported to do and be their very best.
In return, we are looking for people who are innovative, driven, and committed to serving and improving Nottingham. If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of those who live and work in our city, we want to hear from you.
About the Role:
We are entering an exciting phase of transformation within Nottingham City Council as part of our recent Improvement Plan. Our commitment to overcoming recent challenges and investing in the city's future is stronger than ever. As part of this investment, we are actively changing and enhancing our youth services to ensure the best opportunities for children and young people in Nottingham.
As a Youth Development Worker, you will be at the heart of this change, playing a vital role in the delivery of youth services across various settings - from centre-based, outreach, and detached locations. You will collaborate with colleagues in Children's Integrated Services, as well as voluntary and community organizations, to coordinate positive activities that enhance the personal, social, and educational development of children and young people across the city.
In this citywide role, you will oversee volunteers, ensure the safe use of delivery sites, and make sure the services provided are of high quality and inclusive of the diverse communities in Nottingham. You will also help young people connect with the city's vibrant art and cultural scene while supporting them in developing valuable life skills through initiatives such as the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA's Units).
We offer ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure you have the support you need to thrive in this role and grow professionally.
About You
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
1. A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Youth Work/Children's Social Care, JNC qualification in Youth Work/Children's Social Care, or equivalent.
2. Proven experience in providing high-quality services for children and young people, particularly those at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth violence.
3. Strong knowledge and experience in planning, coordinating, and leading youth work sessions in various settings.
4. The ability to advocate for and achieve positive outcomes for young people by influencing and collaborating across partnerships.

6. A willingness and commitment to work evenings and weekends to meet service needs.
