About the Team The National House Project is a charity that supports authorities to set up local house projects so that young people leave care in a planned and supported way. Please take a look at the to get a better understanding of the House Project.The Local House Project is part of the National House Project and is an important new initiative for Surrey County Council that is focussed on enabling older looked after children and care leavers to progress to independence. Facilitators will take a lead supporting young people on a one to one basis and in group settings to help develop their skills and complete modules as part of the programme. Appropriate internal training and further training as part of the wider House Project will enable you to be confident and successful in this role. About the Role As a Facilitator you will work with the Project Lead to implement the development of the Surrey House Project. The project will work intensively with approximately up to 12 children in care and care leavers at any one time, to enable them to develop their own House Project, prepare them for independence and support them to secure their own long-term tenancy and maintain an Education Employment and Training pathway. Ongoing support will also be provided to young people who graduate from the House Project.Working collaboratively and in a co-productive way with other staff and the Project Lead you will support young people to complete a series of modules, which will take place on a 121 basis and also involve setting up and running group sessions. Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
10. Your ability to understand child development, the impact of trauma and experience of working with vulnerable young people
11. A minimum of two years' experience of working with care experienced young people
12. Experience of providing effective support to young people by mutually agreeing clear goals, ensuring problems and issues are addressed promptly
13. Ability to work with young people to enable them to take ownership of key project areas
14. Working knowledge of the accommodation and housing needs of young people
15. Understanding of the education, training and work experience needs of young people, and the opportunities open to them
