Start Date: As soon as possible The Role This position offers an exciting opportunity to oversee the operations of newly created, state-of-the-art teaching laboratories and makerspaces dedicated to chemistry, biology, physics, and design. The successful candidate will ensure these facilities are fit for purpose, well-equipped, and meet the highest safety and regulatory standards in preparation for teaching activities starting September 2025. Key responsibilities include: Launching and managing multiple teaching laboratories and makerspaces. Leading a new team of technicians. Budget and resource planning. Procurement and inventory management for equipment and consumables. Establishing and maintaining health and safety protocols. Supporting teaching and student research activities. This role may involve occasional international travel for alignment with global institutional standards. Person Specification Essential Criteria: Proven experience managing multi-user laboratory facilities in higher education. Teaching experience Ability to lead and coordinate a diverse technical team. Expertise in health and safety documentation related to laboratory operations. Strong leadership and organizational skills with experience in strategic project management. Budget management, resourcing, and procurement experience. Proficiency in IT systems and technology integration for teaching and learning. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities. Desirable Criteria: Professional accreditation (e.g., IST or Science Council membership).
