The Travel Health Nurse will be a source of advice for health professionals across the organisation on all aspects of immunisation policy and practice. They will be expected to develop and maintain an up-to-date, specialised knowledge of immunisation. The post holder will also be involved in the training of other healthcare staff involved in Travel Vaccinations To provide expert travel vaccination advice and support Have extensive knowledge and experience of working within travel vaccination delivery and possess a good understanding of vaccinations and diseases. Provide travel health risk assessments and advice to patients both in the travel clinic and on the telephone. Carry out risk assessments and administer relevant immunisations, anti-malarial prophylaxis, and other medicines in line with Patient Group Directions. Ordering vaccines, following cold chain protocols and ensuring all stock is within expiry dates. Maintain accurate medical records utilising EMIS system and ensure there is always patient confidentiality. Implement company policies and procedures. Work within guidelines to ensure smooth running of the clinic. Works well with others to get the job done and responds positively to instructions and procedures. Communicates effectively with members of the public and colleagues and share critical information with others in the multidisciplinary team. Personal experience of travel and an interest in travel medicine is beneficial. Experience in clinical consultation and vaccine administration. Demonstrates openness and honesty and listens well during meetings and feedback sessions
