To lead and manage children’s residential services for our client and ensure the delivery of a high-quality service that provides care and support to young people in various aspects of their day-to-day life, including Learning/Leisure/Activities, Daily Living, Personal Care, Education, Health, Emotional, and Cultural needs.
To be responsible for the full range of activities involved in managing a children’s home, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards. The safety and well-being of each child should remain at the heart of everyday practice within the home.
To oversee staff management, finances, health, safety, and risk management in line with statutory guidelines.
MAIN DUTIES
* Develop, manage, and review the delivery of residential provisions, ensuring alignment with statutory requirements, policies, and best practices.
* Take lead responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the home, ensuring their educational, physical health, and emotional well-being needs are met.
* Ensure that staff members understand their roles, responsibilities, and expectations set by our client.
* Maintain communication with Ofsted, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and addressing any concerns promptly.
* Ensure adherence to the framework of inspection, achieving or exceeding required standards, and implementing necessary improvements.
* Audit service provision, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
* Act as the Safeguarding Lead, ensuring concerns are recorded, reported, and appropriately addressed, including reports to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO).
* Implement a robust key working system to support children and young people’s independence and progression.
* Develop and maintain a structured referral system for the service.
* Ensure the confidential management of children’s records and care plans in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
* Oversee the recruitment, deployment, and development of full-time and part-time staff, ensuring adherence to our client’s personnel procedures.
* Provide regular supervision and professional development opportunities for staff.
* Foster a culture of excellence, achieving positive outcomes for children within a safe and secure environment.
* Direct and develop the home, ensuring alignment with the overall strategic plan of the organisation.
* Produce performance reports and maintain quality assurance measures.
* Participate in an on-call rota system to provide out-of-hours guidance and support.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Professional Qualification in Social Work, registered with Social Work England.
* NVQ Level 5 in Childcare.
* Level 5 Management Qualification.

HEALTH & SAFETY
* Ensure the health and safety of both staff and young people, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with local and statutory requirements.
* Ensure all staff undergo induction and training relevant to their roles.
* Oversee the safe administration of medication, ensuring proper training is provided.
* Implement and monitor care plans to ensure risk reduction strategies are in place.
* Ensure building compliance, reporting and resolving risks promptly.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
* Ensure effective resource utilisation in line with the company’s financial regulations.
* Ensure that budgets are monitored and adhered to, achieving the best value for money.
* Monitor and control expenditures, taking corrective actions as necessary.
* Report any significant financial concerns to the Service Manager.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
* This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and candidates must undergo an Enhanced Criminal Record Disclosure.
* The role involves handling confidential information, requiring adherence to data protection and privacy laws.
* This is a 40-hour per week role, with some evening and weekend work. A Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) system applies.
* The postholder will be part of an on-call rota for out-of-hours support.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: REGISTERED MANAGER
Essential Experience:
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a residential childcare setting, working with children displaying challenging behaviour.
* Minimum 3 years’ management or supervisory experience.
* Experience preparing and presenting detailed reports.

* Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations.
