An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified, Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Scientist with significant management experience and experience of working in a Laboratory to join the Blood Science Department (Clinical Chemistry, Haematology & Blood Transfusion) as Department Manager on a permanent basis. Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a modern and well-equipped hospital and was purpose-built to provide the very highest standard of accommodation and facilities for patients, visitors and staff. Mature woodland, ponds, landscaped courtyards and gardens are on site for both staff and visitors to enjoy. Applicants must have a Master’s level (MSc) qualification and / or Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science as well as a proven track record in laboratory management. Evidence of active participation in continuing professional development is also required. The laboratory provides support to the acute hospital and to general practices and community hospitals in the surrounding area. We handle around 6 million investigations per year, covering a wide range of analyses provided on site by the Abbott Chemistry, Sebia electrophoresis, Sysmex FBC, TOSOH A1c and STAGO coagulation analysers and Ortho Transfusion analysers. The Blood Science Laboratories are working towards accreditation to UKAS ISO 15189 (2022) Standards. The post does not require out of hours working but this may be necessary on occasion, due to demands of the service.
