Who can be a Supply Teacher? It is essential that you hold UK QTS and have experience teaching across two Key Stages (EYFS and KS1 or KS1 and KS2). You must demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills and a flexible attitude. Ideally, you will be available 2–5 days per week, have access to your own transport, and be willing to travel up to 30 minutes for work. Being a Supply Teacher… Most work will be arranged in advance, but there may be occasions when you are called between 7am and 9am for same-day bookings. While most schools will provide planning for the day, you should have a bank of resources suitable for all year groups to use if needed. Working across various schools, you will be expected to follow each school’s policies, mark the children’s work, and provide clear handover notes for when the class teacher returns.
