East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is a high performing Trust covering 3 busy hospital sites providing acute and primary care as well as a range of specialist services for all in need of care.
Our Trust is located across the beautiful East Kent countryside, with easy access by road and rail. Flexible working is available but you will be will be required to work across the 3 sites in Ashford, Canterbury and Margate, as dictated by service needs. The department is ISO15189:2012 and MHRA accredited and has IBMS certification for HCPC registration and Specialist portfolio training.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology & Blood Transfusion department as our Quality Lead with additional Health & Safety remit. The successful candidate will be working closely alongside a range of biomedical, managerial and clinical colleagues on a daily basis, with a presence expected across all 3 sites. The role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is self-motivated, well organised and a team player, with a solid understanding and experience of working in an MHRA and UKAS ISO15189;2022 regulated environment, to join our fabulous team.
You will play a critical role in maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS) to maintain full compliance and will have a fundamental role in preparing the services for UKAS and MHRA inspections and being the key contact during such visits.
With Health & Safety acting as a fundamental pillar of service excellence alongside Quality, the successful candidate will be expected to support our H&S team with audit, risk assessments and relevant compliance documentation as necessary and take part in HSE visits.
To be considered for the role you must be suitably qualified (see Person Specification) and have significant experience and knowledge of working in a UKAS ISO15189:2022 and MHRA regulated environment as well as a firm appreciation for the importance of Health & Safety in the workplace.
The role will involve working with the Pathology Quality Manager and requires extensive use of the Q Pulse quality management system to maintain a risk-based approach to quality in the department to ensure ISO15189 and MHRA compliance.In order to support and develop our local training needs you will also be expected to take a primary role in delivering CPD sessions appropriate to all BMS staff in the department.
Experience in undertaking audits, document control, change control practice, asset management, investigation and management of incidents including implementing corrective and preventive actions (CA/PA) is expected.
Participation in the cross-departmental (Blood Sciences/Microbiology/Cellular Pathology) Quality Leads Group is expected, to drive Quality innovation across Pathology.
