Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a Technician (Electrical) to join R&D Workshop. Reporting to the Vehicle Delivery Manager, the Technician will provide a flexible, responsive and professional service to Engineering, other Business Departments and Group customers, in build, update, sign-off processes, development, test & measure & reporting.
* Supporting prototype and pre-series vehicles builds
* Support with integration testing (on and off-site)
* Preparing prototype vehicles for objective test, including the installation of measurement systems and sensors
* Supporting component test including setting up and helping to run test rigs for durability and environmental testing
* Liaise and work with various departments to resolve issues
* Provide technical support to all Engineering functions, Manufacturing and Quality
* Use of specialist engineering facilities and equipment to validate, diagnose and rectify issues
About the Team
The Whole Vehicle Engineering team define, develop and validate achievement of whole vehicle product requirements, integrating activity across Engineering to deliver project goals. The department are responsible for:
* Product Attribute and Technical Targets management
* Product Data Management and BoM
* CO2 and Energy Management
* Acoustic/NVH and Aerodynamic development
* Engineering fleet planning and management
* Prototype build, vehicle updates and maintenance
* Durability, functional test and drive events
* Whole Car release (GFF)
About you – Skills and Experience
* Product Attribute and Technical Targets management
* Product Data Management and BoM
* CO2 and Energy Management · Ability to build/modify and overlay vehicle harnesses
* Ability to understand and work to automotive circuit diagrams
* Demonstrable experience of using ODIS engineering & service, CP Tool, PIDT Tool, Diagra and IDEX systems within a skilled electrical automotive environment
* Ability to identify and implement process improvements
* Communication, analytical and complex problem solving skills
* Qualified by Engineering/Technical/Craft Apprenticeship/NVQ or equivalent in electrical or very similar
* Ability to bench test vehicle harnesses & ECU’S
* Ability to flash software to ECU’S
* Demonstrable experience in diagnosing and reworking electrical and high voltage faults without task instruction and engineering support
* Demonstrable experience building and reworking engineering prototype and simulator vehicles or pre-series vehicles
* Ability to work with initiative setting up vehicles for objective test, modifying vehicle components to fit test sensors and routing sensor cables to measurement systems
* Ability to work to test procedures to develop and validate vehicle component or system performance
* Have certificated evidence to support application
