Job overview
Here at Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust we have an exciting opportunity for a Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist in Echocardiography to join our team. Delivering cardiac and respiratory diagnostics across Calderdale Royal Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and the new Community Diagnostic Spoke and Hub in the heart of the Halifax and Huddersfield communities.
The post holder will work as a key member of the Cardio-Respiratory Service, by competently carrying out various diagnostic procedures in various health care settings.
Main duties of the job
1. To work independently performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms on both inpatients and outpatients across the Trust.
2. To provide training and training support to clinical physiologists and Speciality Doctors.
3. To provide clinical support and reporting supervision with reporting support/feedback to all disciplines in training within the team including unaccredited clinical physiologists and Speciality Doctors.
4. To work in partnership with Cardiology Consultants and Registrars performing Stress Echocardiography, Transoesophageal Echocardiography and Contrast Studies.
5. In partnership with the appropriate Team Lead, is responsible for and maximises clinic capacity with regularly monitoring and auditing of the IP/OP requirements.
6. Alongside the appropriate Team Lead and in conjunction with the Oncology Research leads, provide clinical and technical support to the Oncology Trial teams to provide a high quality cardiac monitoring service for all trial participants.
7. Participate in departmental audits as required by the Clinical Leads.

Clinical Duties
1. Performing and reporting transthoracic echo to BSE standards.
2. Performing / assisting in Dobutamine Stress Echo, Transoesophageal Echo, 3D and Contrast Studies as required.
3. Working at all Trust sites as required.
4. Providing Immediate Life Support within the department and throughout the Trust premises as required.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Essential criteria
1. BSc in Clinical Physiology (or equivalent).
2. State registration with RCCP/AHCS.
3. BSE Accreditation.
4. ILS/ ALS Current.
Desirable criteria
1. Post graduate qualification in Cardiology.
2. SLIP Course.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
Essential criteria
1. Proven experience of adult transthoracic echocardiography/ Non-Invasive cardiology.
2. Acts as an independent practitioner in all areas on job specification.
3. Excellent ECG analysis skills.
4. Able to use audit tools.
5. Well-developed IT skills.
6. Evidence of CPD in specialist procedures ANTT trained.
7. Experience of advanced techniques.
8. Experience of specific cardiac monitoring techniques in trial work.
9. The ability to evaluate and act appropriately in emergency situations.
10. Is able to act as trainer to more junior staff and students.
Desirable criteria
1. Physiologist led stress testing.
