Street Lighting Supervisor Chelmsford Full Time We are working alongside Essex Highways to recruit a Street Lighting Supervisor. The Role Reporting directly to the Functional Manager or Engineer, this role plays a key part in delivering exceptional service to our customers. Responsibilities include supporting the execution of planned works within the designated function while ensuring alignment with the vision and priorities of the County Council and Essex Highways. The role involves undertaking supervision of highway related works, helping to ensure that all operational elements are delivered in accordance with the relevant standards, strategies and policies of the County Council. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary to ensure that all matters are dealt with in a courteous and helpful manner, and customers are made fully aware of the services and standards the Council are able to deliver. Key Responsibilities Supervise operational resources, ensuring highway maintenance works meet agreed standards and procedures. Conduct daily site checks, maintain quality, and complete required documentation. Oversee operatives’ daily work, productivity, briefings, and job pack accuracy. Manage all aspects of Traffic Management for high-speed roadworks, including night shifts. Assist in identifying future programme works. Collaborate with teams countywide to share best practices and ensure consistency. Adhere to Health and Safety policies, meeting team targets. About You Current valid driving licence. Hardworking, motivated, and proactive in Street Lighting. Strong relationship-building skills, able to work independently and in a team. Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines. Proficient in IT, including Word and Excel. Good listening skills with a problem-solving mindset. Customer-focused approach. NRSWA Supervisor Certificate required. Knowledge of Highway Legislation, design procedures, standards, and best practices. Willingness to supervise out-of-hours work, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. Understanding of Health and Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, with a strong focus on safety principles.
