Job Description
Over the past 10 years Forensic Architecture (FA) has grown from a small, pioneering research project to an acclaimed research agency with 20+ staff. Forensic Architecture has over the years supported the emergence of several organizations applying its methodologies worldwide. The Head of Operations will join at a moment of change and work closely with the Director and senior colleagues to successfully enable this transition and lead the organisation into a new chapter.
Day-to-day, the Head of Operations will be responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of FA, including, but not limited to, the oversight of all financial, human resources (HR), legal, and administrative matters. They will work together with the Director, other senior FA team members and the Finance, Legal, Procurement, Payroll, Immigration and HR team at Goldsmiths towards fulfilling, to the highest standard, all of FA's aims, obligations, and responsibilities to all stakeholders. The Head of Operations will also, as needed, oversee operational coordination and support between FA and its affiliates with the aim of extending FA's mandate to disseminate and implement our unique technologies and methods.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have experience of successfully seeing an organisation through change and growth. This could be through scaling a business, managing a capital project, developing a research department or similar. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in operations and management, ideally in a research context, and/or within higher education or another institutional setting, with strong organisational, managerial, and communication skills. Their experience should include budget management across an organisation; administrative and financial management for research projects; building relationships across a large team as well as with external organisations and partners; and development and implementation of policies, protocols, and mechanisms for internal communication.
