Due to continued success and exciting new projects, this company is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our Southampton Head Office design team.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of engineering projects across multiple sectors. Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading project-specific design deliverables, ensuring compliance with client requirements, and providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Managing and delivering project-specific electrical design requirements
2. Developing detailed designs in accordance with the company's procedures and quality standards
3. Interpreting client specifications, drawings, and correspondence
4. Communicating with clients, external design teams, and subcontractors to ensure compliance
5. Conducting site surveys, feasibility studies, and optioneering exercises
6. Producing procurement specifications, detailed construction drawings, and electrical scopes
7. Overseeing third-party designs and supporting installation & commissioning teams
8. Reviewing vendor Functional Design Specifications for compliance
9. Performing design calculations, power system modelling (AMTECH), and risk assessments
10. Producing single-line diagrams, cable schedules, load schedules, and equipment specifications
11. Recording and documenting all design changes through to project completion
What We're Looking For
1. A relevant electrical qualification (or equivalent industry experience)
2. Chartered Engineer status (desirable, but not essential)
3. Strong technical experience in electrical design, power distribution, and control systems
4. Proficiency in AMTECH, CAD, and industry-standard design tools
5. Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients and subcontractors
