An exciting opportunity to work with an innovative and well-established Older Adult Mental Health Occupational Therapy Service in Wales.
This is a 12-month fixed term Senior Occupational Therapist (Band 6) role delivering occupational therapy service on Cedar Park, an ABUHB Older Adult Mental Health Dementia in-patient Unit, at Ysbyty Tri Chwm Hospital, Ebbw Vale, Blaenau Gwent.
The post is to backfill a secondment.
Main duties of the job
1. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in delivery of effective in-patient care, treatment, and discharge planning. Ensure care, treatment, and discharge planning is person-centred, least restrictive, and safe.
2. Delivery of specialist occupational therapy suited to the strengths and needs of individuals under the care of the in-patient unit.
3. Direct and supervise occupational therapy support staff in the safe and effective delivery of interventions 1:1 and group programmes.
4. Work with families/carers and wider organisations and professionals to ensure effective partnership working in the care and discharge planning of individuals.
5. Understanding of the impact of Dementia on function and occupations is essential.
6. Excellent communication skills are needed for all aspects of the role as described above.
This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 12 months due to cover a secondment.
