We are committed to delivering a safe and reliable train service, by investing in our fleet of trains, stations and employees. As part of this investment, we are looking to recruit a Retail Travel Advisor, on a full-time, permanent basis based at Watford.

What does the job involve?
1. Act as an Authorised Collector under the Penalty Fares Rules 1997. Issue Penalty Fare notices to passengers who are liable to pay a Penalty Fare.
2. Report instances of fraud, completing the relevant paperwork e.g. MG11’s and to attend court if required.
3. Issue all products and services available from all stations as required by covering main ticket windows.
4. Update and amend manuals and manage the supply of leaflets and timetables.
5. Ensure an attractive environment by maintaining high standards of environmental cleanliness.
6. Ensure that all booking office ticket issuing machines are in good working order and carry out routine maintenance.
7. Comply with the Company’s cash regulations and cash handling processes.
8. Maintain a secure environment.
9. Continually provide information through effective communication directly with our customers, utilising display units and IT equipment particularly during times of disruption.
10. Maintain and update all relevant records and registers.
11. Carry out winterisation duties on all platforms and on all public areas as required.
12. Take reasonable care for your own safety and for the safety of others who may be affected by your work.
13. Be prepared to undertake any reasonable request made by your manager etc.
What skills and experience do I need to do the job?
1. Customer focussed – being presentable, approachable and proactive.
2. Comfortable managing conflict and remaining calm in difficult situations.
3. Great communication skills – able to flex your style to the audience.
4. Having flexibility – both with your hours of work and approach to work.
5. Using your initiative to solve problems and resolve issues.
6. Live within a reasonable commute of the station you have applied for – early starts and late finishes will mean you need to be able to get to work, possibly before/after public transport is running.
7. For safety reasons, you need to be aged 18 or older.
