Job Description
The PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Scientist II for our Middleton, Wisconsin Mass Spectrometry team. This is a first-shift position, Monday to Friday, with flexible start and stop times, conducting research, assay validation, and sample analysis for pharmaceutical products in development. The role involves using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS) and other advanced lab techniques in our state-of-the-art laboratory.

As a Scientist II, you will utilize cutting-edge technologies to perform high-quality sample testing for key pharmaceutical clients. Your work in sample preparation and analysis contributes significantly to our mission of bringing life-changing therapies to market.
A Day in the Life:
* Understand laboratory procedures and conduct complex analyses under general supervision.
* Perform routine sample preparation and analysis to measure pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical compounds in various formulations and biological matrices for stability and testing.
* Train on operation, maintenance, and theory of analytical instrumentation, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
* Review and compile results, ensuring data meets SOP acceptance criteria, methodology, protocol, and product specifications.
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or related field, or equivalent academic/vocational qualification.
Experience:
* Previous relevant experience (2+ years for Scientist II) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
* Knowledge of analytical instrumentation, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
* Excellent manual dexterity, communication, and time management skills.
* Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to cross-train on techniques and work collaboratively or independently.
Working Environment:
* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
* Ability to work standing for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 pounds.
* Comfortable working in healthcare or lab environments with potential hazards.
* Proficiency with office technology and ability to work under pressure managing multiple projects.
