Specialty Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious and highly motivated speciality doctor to join our Trauma & Orthopaedics team, based at Dorset County Hospital.
Applicants should have full GMC registration and a licence to practice with the General Medical Council.
Main duties of the job
* To provide inpatient and outpatient Trauma and Orthopaedic services and to provide additional support to the lower limb arthroplasty services.
* To be part of a Multidisciplinary Team, which includes Consultants in Anaesthetics and Rheumatology (pain service), Radiology, Pathology and Elderly Care, nursing staff, physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
* To contribute to the training of Higher and Basic Surgical Trainees and other professional team members.
* To ensure a high level of efficiency and effectiveness in the provision of patient care.
* To fulfil continuing professional development requirements in line with clinical governance.
* To develop special interests to enhance what is currently undertaken in the department.
* To participate in audit and other areas of Directorate responsibility.
* To attend and actively participate in monthly education meetings.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Higher UK clinical qualification e.g. MRCS or overseas equivalent.
Experience
* 5 years clinical experience in Orthopaedics at SPR or equivalent.
* Experience demonstrating ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based T&O doctor.
* Experience in undertaking OP clinics and trauma lists.
Skills and Abilities
* Willingness and ability to fulfil the general service elements of the job description.
* Evidence of the clinical skills required to fulfil the speciality and sub-speciality elements of the job as in the job description and technical specification.
* Evidence of leadership and service development.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships and team working.
