Piping Inspector Job Description
Overview of the Role
As a Piping Inspector at Sonomatic RAIS, you will be responsible for physically inspecting, assessing, and reporting on the condition of pressurised piping and other equipment. You will act as the 'competent person' as defined in the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000, evaluating equipment condition and determining suitability for continued service.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical pressure system inspections, including NDT (UT, MPI, DPI) as required, in compliance with legal and company standards.
* Create NDT plans, selecting suitable techniques for detecting degradation mechanisms.
* Conduct corrosion loop inspections, preparing work packs and updating registers.
* Review piping work packs and line walks to identify and prepare for inspections and NDT activities.
* Prepare piping inspection reports stating the as-found condition of equipment, including recommendations for future inspection intervals.
* Submit repair recommendations to Area Inspectors and clients.
* Raise SAP notifications for job planning, resourcing, and manhours.
* Liaise with clients and other departments to ensure work deadlines are met.
* Carry out structural inspections, PFP inspections, and small bore tubing when required.
* Organise weekly workloads and ensure inspection targets are met.
* Attend department meetings as required.
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
* Working knowledge of the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Competence in using computer packages.
* Ability to coordinate and prioritise work effectively.
Qualifications
* UKAS RG2 Category 3.
* PCN Level 2 qualifications in UT (3.1 & 3.2), MPI & DPI.
* IRATA Rope Access, L1, L2 or L3.
* ASME Level 1 Plant inspector and/or API 570.
