Job summary
Applications are invited for the position of a Senior Clinical Fellow in Urogynaecology. The post is for an initial 12-month term.
This post will be based in The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Epsom and Leatherhead site of the ESTH Trust, but audit and governance activities are cross-site.
The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of the Service. Candidates will be expected to take part in clinical research in gynaecology and lead on research projects, presenting findings at conferences.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills in urogynaecology.
The post is ideally suited to:
1. Post CCT surgical trainees aspiring to develop clinical and surgical skills before applying for a consultant post.
2. Obstetrics and Gynaecology trainees at ST6-7 or equivalent level of training wishing to complete an Advanced Training Skills Module (ATSM) in urogynaecology.
3. Overseas Doctors within or outside the EEA wishing to pursue further specialist training in urogynaecology, who must be eligible to work in the UK and have completed training in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to ST6-7 level or above, holding the MRCOG or equivalent qualification.
4. Trainees wishing to acquire urogynaecology specialist training and undertake research/audit in preparation for applying for an RCOG recognised subspecialist training programme in urogynaecology within the UK.
The fellow in Urogynaecology will work within the Urogynaecology Service, which is nationally accredited by BSUG. The service places strong emphasis on a multidisciplinary approach to female pelvic floor dysfunction, with close links between the department and affiliated specialties including Urology, Colorectal, Neurology, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiology, Renal Medicine, and Physiotherapy Departments.

* Able to deal with basic management of gynaecological emergencies as well as pregnancy complications.
Desirable
* Experience in performing cystoscopy and exposure to Urogynaecology prolapse and incontinence procedures.
* Previous research experience.
* Experience in performing urodynamics and ultrasound in relation to urogynaecological practice.
Knowledge
Essential
* Broad understanding of gynaecology and urogynaecology and principles of conservative and operative management of incontinence and prolapse.
* Understanding of principles of research and audit.

* Understanding of management principles.

* Previous experience in urogynaecology.
